Andy Davis balances a deep passion for high quality vfx craft with a sarcastic wit.

A dedication to high standards helps him respond to the needs of passionate creators.

He encourages his teams to push the creative envelope and helps them to understand new and unfamilar workflows.

His problem solving skillset and clarity under intense scrutiny make him among the most sought after VFX firefighters in the industry.

Andy’s work has been forged in the chaotic fires of numerous features, classic music videos, and high profile commercials, including highly visible product launches and superbowl spots.  He works directly with top-tier talent including Oscar-winners, music moguls, and legendary film makers.

His skillset spans:

  • shot breakdown
  • shooting methodology
  • on-set supervision
  • pipeline development
  • workflow design and implementation
  • creative problem solving
  • client-facing lead
  • finishing and delivery

His background in flame compositing has led him to draw creative solutions from a wide palette of techniques, spanning traditional old-school methods to cutting edge use of newly emerging technologies.

Trained in both illustration and fine arts he received his BFA from ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, CA.  Here he had extensive training in traditional painting and sculptural techniques while beginning to explore the possibilities of digital manipulation on which his career has been built.

He enjoys a wide range of visual arts and popular culture, including the history of film and animation.

When he’s not working, Andy goes on bike rides, where he enjoys focusing his eyes on far-away things.  He also plays Rockband drums which sharpens his humor while wounding his pride.
